Sheridan Brooks-Hurst QC: Senior International Counsel
Sheridan Brooks-Hurst QC is Senior International Counsel to PGD Strategy’s board of directors.
Sheridan has achieved many milestones in the Cayman Islands, being the first female lawyer to open an independent legal practice in those islands. She is a former President of the Cayman Islands National Insurance Company, a government-owned insurance company, and has also served as a director of the islands’ Health Insurance Commission.
In addition, Sheridan was the first female Chairman of the national airline, Cayman Airways Ltd, and the first and only female Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands, a post in which she served for over 9 years. She is also the first and current Chairman of the Gender Equality Tribunal of the Cayman Islands, which she assisted with setting up and is a former President of the islands’ Business & Professional Women’s Club.
After qualifying as a Barrister-at-Law at Gray’s Inn, Sheridan served as a Deputy Clerk of the Courts in the Cayman Islands, following which she was appointed Crown Counsel. She was the first female Legislative Draftsman on the islands and has previously served as the Secretary to the UK-appointed Constitutional Review Commission. She is also a former Director of Bank Austria (Cayman Islands) Ltd and of the Cayman Islands Electrical Regulatory Authority.
Sheridan completed her LLB (Hons) at Sheffield University in the United Kingdom and was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 1984.
Sheridan was named as a Queen’s Counsel and admitted to the Inner Bar of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands in February 2017.
